The project consists of the final paving of US Route 25E through the Cumberland Gap National Historic Park; construction of US Route 58 from the VA/TN border to the intersection of US Route 25E; the construction of US Route 58 connections with North Cumberland Drive and County Road; steel liner pipe installation in Little Tunnel; grading, drainage, hot asphalt concrete pavement, and other miscellaneous work. Principal items of work and approximate quantities are as follows: Removal of asphalt pavement, 18,000 SQYD; Embankment construction, 132,000 CUYD; Aggregate Base, Grading C or D: 27,500 SQYD; Hot Asphalt Concrete Pavement: 8,000 TON; 4-inch peforated underdrain, 4,200 LNFT; Matting, Type 1, 41,000 SQYD.
