The United States Department of Agriculture, (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Field Servicing Office (FSO) is conducting market research on behalf of the Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA), for a fully automated version of the current approved official grain dockage apparatus. The current approved apparatus consists of the Carter Day Dockage Tester, Model XT-3 . GIPSA anticipates approving and standardizing on a fully automated version of the apparatus for automated official dockage determinations in export grain inspection facilities. Consideration on whether to proceed with a procurement of a fully automated version of the apparatus for some non-export official laboratories depends on whether it represents a greater value for the government than continued use of the approved manual method.
