Administration (GSA), Northeast and Caribbean Region, Property
Development Division will sponsor a Networking Opportunity Symposium
for Professional Architect/Engineer (SIC Codes 8711 and 8712) firms who
are qualified as Small, Small Disadvantaged, and/or Women Owned Small
Business A/E firms (including 8(a)) and who are located within the
State of New York, and New Jersey (Counties of Bergen, Essex, Morris,
Passiac, Hudson, Middlsex and Monmouth), Puerto Rico and the US Virgin
Islands. This symposium, conducted in cooperation with the Small
Business Administration (SBA), will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 1997,
from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Court of International Trade, 1
Federal Plaza, New York, NY 10278. The theme of the symposium will
concentrate on "How Professional Architect/Engineering (A/E) firms can
do business with the Government" and explore potential opportunities.
This symposium will cover aspects of the Government Procurement
Process for the encouragement of maximum participation of Small, Small
Disadvantaged, and/or Women Owned Small Business A/E firms (including
8(a)) in Government A/E Contracting. The overall program will provide
opportunities to speak with specialists in each area of expertise, in
addition to brief presentations provided by representatives of GSA &
SBA; topics will include Architect/Engineer Contracting, GSA's Design
Excellence Program, Elements of GSA's Small Business Subcontracting
Plan, Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Program, Federal Dollar$
and Sense for Women-Owned Small Businesses, and other SBA assistance
programs. There will be a brief session held following the symposium
for those 8(a) firms who have not been awarded any Government
