The Chemical/Biological Defense Systems Division at the Human Systems Program Office, Brooks AFB, TX is contemplating the acquisition of a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Joint Firefighters Integrated Response Ensemble (J-FIRE) Chemical Warfare Fire-fighting Glove (CWFG). This announcement is NOT a formal solicitation and is NOT a request for proposals. Any formal solicitation will be announced separately. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The J-FIRE gloves' intended operating environment is in chemical warfare threat area. The following are the minimum essential salient characteristics of the J-FIRE CWFG: (1) meet NFPA 1973, Gloves for Structural Fire Fighting and NFPA 1976, Protective Clothing for Proximity Fire Fighting; (2) provide protection from a liquid chemical threat of 10 g/m2; (3) provide protection from a vapor and aerosol chemical agent threat of 7500 Ct (mg-min/m3); (4) maintain protection for 24 hoursor more after exposure to the chemical threat; (5) retain protection against the chemical threat after being worn for 30 days or more; (6) with packaging, stow and survive on a shelf for 10 years or more without storage maintenance; (7) integrate with the Joint Service Lightweight Integrated Suit Technology (JS-LIST) chemical protective Overgarment (OG) by covering all skin on the hand, wrist, and forearm while reaching out with hand in any direction and fitting under the sleeve of the JS-LIST OG.
