COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF APRIL 4,1997 PSA#1817FLOURESCENCE IMAGING TOOLS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT AND FORENSICS Sandia
National Laboratories (Albuquerque, NM) seeks a partner to participate
in developing and commercializing new fluorescence imaging tools for
law enforcement and forensics. The National Institute of Justice (NIJ)
is providing funding and guidance in this project. The project goal is
to commercialize cost effective, fieldable instrumentation for
detecting fluorescent evidence at crime scenes. New detection schemes
and enhanced performance of existing forensic light sources will be
combined with the goal of detecting fluorescent material in ambient
light (i.e. room light and possibly daylight). Sandia and NIJ want to
work closely with an industrial partner during device development so
that this technology can be quickly and widely distributed. The partner
must be experienced with fluorescence techniques currently used in law
enforcement and possess manufacturing capabilities. Benefits to the
selected industrial partner include: insight into the needs of NIJ and
the larger security market overall. Law enforcement technologies are
a growing market area, already making up $8 billion worth of products
and services in the US. If the project goals are met, the
private-sector partner will also have a new product ready for
commercialization. Sandia is looking for partners to commercialize this
technology, particularly small businesses, applications developers
(end-users), and manufacturers. Partnership agreements include
commercial licenses and Cooperative Research & Development Agreements
(CRADAs). Please contact us for details: Interested parties please
