announcement is for pre-planning purposes only and no award will result
from it. The Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) is seeking sources and a
cost estimate from firms capable of providing a conceptual design with
drawings including sizes and weights of pulsed Nd:YAG laser technology
to perform severence of inconel metal seals/plate up to .375" thick and
seal welds up to .750" in thickness. Vaporization of the seal metal is
desired resulting in minimal slag and dross following cut. Capability
of producing a reweldable surface (surface finish of 250 RHR) is
required. Cutting equipment at workside must fit in a 6" x 8" x 6"
envelope not including cable extensions for connecting to power source.
Power source will need to be located remote to the work site by up to
