synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with
the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional
information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the
only solicitation, written quotations are being requested and a
written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation is being
issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ), DAAC83-97-T-0170. The
solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those
in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 90-42. This
solicitation is under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP).
Standard Industrial Classification is 3541 and the size standard is 500
employees. This will be a Firm-Fixed Price contract. The requirement
consists of a 3-axis bed type CNC Milling Machine. Description
(requirements) follows: Work Table: size: 10 inch x 54 inch; tee slots:
3 slots, 5/8 inch on 2 1/2 inch centers; table travel (x axis): 29
inches; saddle travel (y axis): 16 inches; head travel: 20 inches;
quill travel: 5 inches; table load capacity: 1,300 lbs. Performance
consists of the following: X and Y Travel: 190 inches per minute max;
CNC Feed Rate: .01 to 100 inches per minute; Peak Torque: 165
inches/pound; Continuous Torque: 115 inches/pound; Spindle Speed:
500-5000 RPM (direct drive); 30 Taper Spindle Speed: 50-500 RPM (back
gear); Inverter Drive Spindle Motor; Quill to Table Top Distance: 4-23
inches; Accuracy: 0.0004 inches for positioning and repeatability.
Construction consists of the following: Precision Ground Ball Screws
(X,Y,Z); hardened and ground way; spindle hardened and balanced; quill
diameter 4 inch (class 7 precision bearings) and power drawbar. Power
Specifications consist of: 3HP variable speed, spindle motor, AC; 3
phase, 220 VAC, 60 Hertz, 12 Amps (spindle motor); single phase, 220
VAC, 60 Hertz, 20 Amps (axis travel); single phase, 110 VAC, 60 Hertz,
5 Amps (controls). Control specifications consist of: CNC controls
shall be by PC. The PC shall be a current model; 2MB RAM; 400 MB hard
drive; 14 inch VGA monitor; 1.44 MB, 3 1/2 inch diskette; one RS-232
serial port; enhanced importer/exporter IGES compatible; manual and CNC
automated operating modes and user friendly operating menus and
conversational programming. Optional Features are: Fourth axis;
Leveling Pads; Programmable Spindle Speed; Expanded Hard Drive Memory;
Coolant Flood Control; Quartz Halogen; and CAT 30 Tooling Package. The
CAT 30 Tooling Packare includes: 2 ea JT6 for drill chucks, Kennametal

INSTALLATION: The contractor shall install the equipment at the
consignee's facility within 20 days after delivery of the equipment.
The contractor shall provide all labor and resources required for the
installation except the activity will provide an electrician to connect
electrical power in accordance with local regulations and laws.
START-UP: The contractor shall validate the installation of the
equipment by operating the equipment within 25 days of delivery. The
contractor shall provide all labor and resources for the start-up
operation. Operation of the equipment shall include modes for which the
equipment is intended to perform. TRAINING: The contractor shall
provide twenty (20) hourson-site operator and maintenance training for
personnel at the Corpus Christi Army Depot after completion of
installation and start-up of the equipment and within 30 days of
delivery of the equipment. The contractor shall provide all resources
and labor for this training. The training shall include operation and
preventive maintenance evolutions on the equipment and shall be
consistent with instructions in the contractor's Operation and
Maintenance Manual. The contractor's instructor shall be expert in the
operation and maintenance of the equipment and shall have a prepared
training agenda. The contractor's Maintenance and Operations Manual
shall be used as a training guide. Three copies of the Maintenance and
Operations Manual are to be provided with the equipment. Delivery is
to be made to the Corpus Christi Army Depot, FOB Destination, within 60
days after receipt of order. Quantity is one (1) each. The offeror must
include with offer a list of references. Provision 52.212-1,

Contractor must include with offer a completed copy of the provision
