The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is considering
procurement of an Anti-Personnel Obstacle Breaching System (APOBS).
APOBS is a two-man, backpacked system which can breach footpaths
through anti-personnel land mines and wire obstacles. The current
government designed APOBS uses a rocket to pull a line charge over the
obstacle. The line charge consists of 108 fragmentation grenades which
defeat the obstacle when detonated. The government anticipates award of
a fixed price contract for up to 100 systems as well as options. The
solicitation will be based on a performance specification with the
government's technical data package (TDP) provided for information
only. Award is anticipated for the second quarter of FY98 and is
expected to be based on best value considering technical and cost, as
well as the ability of the proposed system to meet Board (WSERSB/IM)
certification. The government's TDP is believed to represent a
substantial portion of the development of the final system. However,
the government does NOT warrant the TDP nor does the government
guarantee that the TDP necessarily reflects its current requirement.
Copies of the TDP are available for review at a cost of $25.00 to cover
printing and mailing. Comments on the TDP are encouraged and should be
submitted within 30 days of receipt of the TDP. The government does
NOT intend to pay for information sought under this notice. Requests
for the TDP should be submitted in writing and directed to Mr. Peter A.
Stabile, Marine Corps Systems Command (Code CTQ1PS), Quantico, VA
22134-5010. No telephone requests for information will be accepted.
Requests for the TDP should be received within 15 days of publication
of this notice and must be accompanied by a check for $25.00 (no cash)
made payable to the Department of the Treasury. No solicitation
document currently exists for this requirement. (0076) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0160 19970319\13-0004.SOL)
