Technical Specifications for a Wide-band Recorder 1.0 Background: The
Wide-band Recorder is used in the US Navy's = Vulnerability Assessment
Mission.. The recorder will be rack = mounted and will be located in
various mobile collection vehicles. = The recorder will be controlled
using either RS-232 or IEEE-488. 2.0 Description: Recorder is defined
as a wide-band = instrumentation tape recorder/reproducer consisting of
a transport = and all associated electronics necessary for the record,
reproduce, = control, erase, built-in test, and built-in calibration
functions. = A 14 Channel, 2 MHz bandwidth recorder is sought. The unit
shall = be 19 inch rack mount. The record/reproduce technique employed
= shall be direct (wide band II) as per IRIG 106. 3.0 Design: The
Recorder shall be of fixed head design. The unit = shall utilize
coaxial reel configuration so as to minimize the = required vertical
rack height. Front of Recorder will include a = door/cover to protect
reels and controls from damage from dirt and = impacts. Recorder shall
be tolerant of shock and vibration = associated with frequent
dismounting and relocation, and tolerant = of vibration onboard truck
or ship. 4.0 Interface: IEEE 488 or RS-232. 5.0 Weight: Not to exceed
150 lbs. 6.0 Data Outputs: Provided on panel mounted connectors for the
= simultaneous reproduction of ancillary data and all 14 channels of =
primary data. 7.0 Electronics Test Function: The recorder shall
contain test = provisions which allow activation and testing of the
electronic = circuits without tape motion. 8.0 Calibration: A
calibration function shall be provided which = shall enable onsite
alignment and adjustment of channel electronics = without extra
equipment. Alignment of channel electronics shall be = ensured by a
dialog with the recorder. The parameters shall be = called individually
by the operator through the front panel or by = computer. The following
parameters of the direct system shall be = checked using the
calibration function: bias level, equalizer, = bandwidth andsignal
noise. The recorder shall contain all = required circuitry to perform
complete alignment of the failed = channel upon replacement of the
record and/or reproduce electronics = without the use of external test
equipment or signal sources of any = kind. 9.0 Temperature Range:
0=B0C to +50=B0C (operational), -20=B0C to = +65=B0C = (storage) 10.0
Input Power Voltage: 85 to 270 V, 45 to 440 Hz 11.0 Recording Method:
The recording method will comply with IRIG = 106 for Direct Wide-Band
Group II. 12.0 Record/Reproduce Capability: The recorder shall be
capable = of recording 14 channels simultaneously. The recorder shall
be = capable of reproducing 14 channels simultaneously. 13.0 Tape
Capacity: The recorder shall accept sufficient amount = of tape for 15
minutes of record/reproduce time at 120 ips per pass = (9000 ft).
