USCGC ALERT (WMEC 630) homeported in Astoria, OR. All work to be
performed from 30 June thru 22 August 1997 at a contractor's facility
capable of drydocking the cutter. USCGC ALERT length overall is 210
ft., design waterline length 200 ft., depth, molded, main deck
amidships 19 ft. 6 in. Work items include: Temporary Services;
Drydocking; Underwater Body Inpection; Zinc Anode Renewal; Underwater
Body Preservation Partial; Sea Valve & Waster Piece O/H; Anchor
Windlass O/H; Electric Motor O/H; Ground Tackle Inspect & O/H;
Ultrasonic Measurement of Hull Plating Thickness; Fathometer Transducer
Renewal; Rudder, Rudder Stock Maint; Controllable Pitch Prop Maint;
Prop Shaft Mech Seal Replacement; Evaporator O/H, Clean & Hydro Test;
Sewage Tank Clean & Inspect; Ammo Hoist O/H; Forward Peak Tank
Preservation, Bridge Window Repair; Freeboard Preservation; Watertight
Door Renewal; Firemain Valve & Inspect &Test; Remote Valve Operator
Install; JP-5 Fuel Oil Tank Clean & Inspect; Exhaust Stack/Muffler Mod;
Fire Retardant Deck Tile Renewal; Insulation upgrade; Chain Locker
Preservation, and Terrazzo Deck Coverings Install. This solicitation is
pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration program.
Solicitation will be issued on or about 24 March 1997. All responsible
businesses may submit a bid and all bids will be considered by this
agency. For Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises. The
Department of Transportation (DOT) Minority, Office of Small and
Disadvantaged Business Utilization has program to assist minority,
women-owned and disadvantaged enterprises to acquire short-term working
capital assistance for transportation-related contracts. Loans are
available under the DOT Short-Term Lending Program (STLP) at the prime
rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of
