(703)784-5826. The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is
requesting information for the following ADPE equipment. NO
SOLICITATION EXISTS AT THIS TIME. The U.S. Marine Corps is seeking
information on commercial off-the-shelf devices that are capable of
routing Internet Protocol (IP) datagrams over combat network radio
systems. The devices shall have the following capabilities: A) The
device shall operate as an IP network router and use MIL-STD-188-220A
standard for encapsulation of IP datagrams over broadcast, and
point-to-point radio links. The use of other MIL and industry standards
for encapsulation may also be considered. B) The device shall perform
IP packet routing independent of the operating systems residing on
hosts connected to the device either directly or through a local area
network. C) The IP routing software shall reside permanently within the
device. The device, after initially configured by an operator, shall
operate autonomously. The device shall not depend on external systems
for software download or auto-configuration. The Marine Corps is
requesting the following information: A). Vendors shall provide
information regarding the number of and types of interface ports
available on the device. It is critical for the device to have wide
area network (WAN) interface capabilities for wideband and narrowband
UHF SatCom, HF, UHF LOS, and VHF single channel radio networks. It is
also critical for the device to include a Local Area Network IEEE 802.3
and/or a serial WAN interface using the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)
for IP encapsulation, in addition to the radio network interfaces.
Please provide information on any other interface capabilities. B)
Vendors shall provide information regarding the processor type used in
the device, the device operating system, the amount of flash memory
available, the maximum DRAM capability, the software available for the
device (in the event the device supports multiple network protocols),
the dimensions and weight of the device, the standard components
provided with the device, Boot ROM options if available, DRAM upgrade
options if available, Power supply options if available, and the list
of radio and serial interface cables if available. C) Vendors shall
provide information regarding local and remote management capabilities
of the device. D) Vendors shall provide a brief summary, of any
current or planned applications of the device, if any, in any
government or military systems. This request is for information only.
Interested sources should send information by no later than 01 APR 97
