asbestos in Buildings Nos. 6, 7, 11, 18, 20 & 28; and the replacement
of the roof atop Building No. 18 at the Northlands Job Corps Center
located in Vergennes, Vermont. The extent of the work is outlined as
follows: Building No. 6 (Storage), removal of asbestos caulking from
the boiler and removal of duct insulation; Building No. 7
(Logistics/Maintenance), removal of asbestos tank insulation; Building
No. 11 (Auto Mechanics/OEP), removal of cement pipe insulation;
Building No. 18 (Women's Dormitory), removal of existing slate shingles
and replacement with new asphalt shingle roof; Building No. 20 (Men's
Dormitory), removal of the vinyl tile floor covering in the first floor
lounge area; and Building No. 28 (Storage), removal of asbestos pipe
insulation. The areas affected by the removal of the asbestos
insulation will require the installation of new duct and pipe
insulation. The period of performance for construction is 140 calendar
days from receipt of notice to proceed through completion of the
project. The estimated cost range of construction is between
$100,000.00 and $250,000.00. Initial Plans and Specifications will be
available on March 10, 1997, only from the Architect/Engineer firm of
Truex Cullins & Partners, Architects, 209 Battery Street, Burlington,
Vermont 05401. Contact Mr. Dennis Willmott (802) 658-2775 for
additional information. Collect calls will not be accepted. It is
emphasized that requests for plans and specifications should be
directed the A/E firm listed above to ensure proper handling of
requests. Plans and specifications will be made available for pick up
at the A/E's office and also for delivery at an additional charge.
Requests must be in writing and will be answered on a first-come,
first-serve basis until the initial supply is exhausted. For requests
made after the initial supply is exhausted, a non-refundable fee not to
exceed the actual cost of reproduction of the IFB documents (to be
determined by the Contracting Officer,) plus a shipping charge based on
each individual request (if applicable,) will be required in order to
obtain the IFB documents. Pre-Bid Walk-Thru is scheduled for March 25,
1997, at 9:00 a.m. (local) at the Center. This will be the only
opportunity to review the job site prior to submission of bids.
Bid-Opening is scheduled for April 8, 1997, at 2:00 p.m. (local) at the
A/E's office. [NOTE: THIS IS A 100% SMALL BUSINESS SET ASIDE
ACQUISITION. The Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code for this
acquisition is 4953. The Small Business Size Standard is $6.0 million.]
