Education Conference and Exposition (MEDTEC) will take place in Tysons
Corner, VA from 14-17 August 1997. This annual conference, with the
cooperation of the Department of Defense (Health Affairs), is being
held to encourage communication among medical, industrial and academic
communities. The theme, "Medical Technologies & Programs: A Forecast
for the Future" focuses on what are the opportunities or impediments to
enhancing health care in the 21st Century. The conference objectives
are: (1) To understand medical requirements, program objectives and
funding initiatives at the federal, state and local level as well as
the challenge to technology developers; (2) Hear challenges, highlights
and lessons learned from telemedicine initiatives; (3) Present
available technologies which support the medical community as well as
identify other technologies which meet medical objectives and
requirements; (4) Discuss medical standards -- Who is responsible? What
standards are needed? What role can/should industry and government
