This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; a proposal is being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation Number N00164-97-Q-0096 is issued and the incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 33 and Defense Acquisition Circular 91-9. This procurement is set-aside 100 percent for small business. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is 3826. This action is a brand name only requirement in accordance with 6.302-1. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only those sources able to provide Veeco MS-50 Leak Detectors. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposalsreceived will be considered by the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This requirement is for one each Veeco MS-50 Leak Detector and is being solicited on a brand name only basis from Veeco Instruments Inc., Terminal Dr., Plainview, NY 11803, or any distributors of Veeco equipment, since Veeco is the Original Equipment Manufacturer. The Government requirement is to standardize test results and to have complete compatibility on Target Detectors for the Sidewinder Missile. Equipment must be compatible with equipment already located at Crane. Crane performs Life cycle maintenance tests on these Target Detectors using Test Procedure CR4053-SO-6014. The Government anticipates issuing a Firm-Fixed-Price Purchase Order. The shipping terms will be F.O.B. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, IN with the inspection/acceptance at destination. Delivery will be required within 30 days from contract award. The contractor shall extend to the Government thefull coverage of any standard commercial warranty normally offered in a similar commercial sale, provided such warranty is available at no additional cost to the Government.
