Phone (703)604-2000 The Program Executive Officer, Air, ASW, Assault
and Special Mission Programs (PMA-290), is conducting a Request for
Information (RFI) to determine the availability of interested sources
and expertise to provide a Stores Management System (SMS) to replace
the current S-3 T/M/S Armament Control System (ARMCOS). The ARMCOS is
part of the Control-Indicator Set, AN/ASQ-147. The new SMS will be
integrated with and operate with the existing DISCOS and SESCOS. The
navy will be looking for a prime contractor, via the formal competitive
procurement process, to modify, integrate, fabricate, install, test and
provide integrated logistics support (ILS), engineering and software
development efforts to adapt/modify the SMS for use in the S-3 T/M/S
aircraft. An RFI package is expected to be available to industry by 14
February 1997. Responses are sought from industry to aid the
government in its planning processes and methods to maintain the
existing system performance and functionality. A draft SMS
Specification is available. This request shall not be construed as a
Request for Proposal (RFP) or as an obligation on the part of the
government to acquire any follow-on capabilities. The government does
not intend to award a contract at this time or otherwise pay for the
information provided. No entitlement to payment of direct cost or
charges by the government will arise as a result of submissions of
responses. Any formal RFP will be separately listed in the Commerce
Business Daily. Tentatively, the Government plans to release a draft
RFP package during 1st quarter CY 1997. Contractors interested in
receiving this package should provide company name, address, point of

copy letter. Contractors responding will be notified when packages are
