Administration (NOAA), AGF, Acquisition Management Division, 1325 East
West Highway, Station 4301, OFA512:MW, Silver Spring, MD 20910-3283 66 -- METEOROLOGICAL SENSING AND TELEMETRY INSTRUMENTS (RADIOSONDES)
AND ASSOCIATED GROUND SYSTEM SOL 52-DGNW-7-90053 POC Mary Watson,
telephone (301) 713-0823, Contracting Officer, Edward F. Tennant, Jr.,
telephone (301) 713-0823 The National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration (NOAA) has a requirement for radiosondes and an
associated ground system (with spares, training, and documentation) for
use at the National Weather Service (NWS) Albany, New York site. The
ground system must be capable of coverage down to 6 degrees elevation;
however, at the location the ground system will be installed, there
are line-of-sight blockages of up to 20 degrees elevation. If the
ground system is to use a navigational aid, Omega is not acceptable
since Omega is planned for decommissioning in the near future. If the
radiosondes are to transmit in the 403 MHz band, the ground system will
require a filter on the receiver to mitigate the effects of a nearby
transmitter operating at a close frequency. The radiosondes to be
acquired will be treated as options with a quantity of between 200 and
1000 per year for five option years. Solicitation 52-DGNW-7-90053 will
be issued on or about February 28, 1997 with a closing date on or about
March 31, 1997. Requests for the solicitation should be made in
writing. (0036) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0330 19970207\66-0004.SOL)
