Veatch Special Projects Corp. (BVSPC), under contract to the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) -- Region V, is soliciting bids
for remedial construction services for decontamination, demolition, and
disposal of equipment, structures, and concrete slabs and foundations,
and the onsite excavation, stabilization, solidification, and offsite
disposal of contaminated soils at the MacGillis & Gibbs Superfund Site
in New Brighton, Minnesota. Construction is expected to begin on or
after July 1, 1997, and to be substantially completed in about 3
months. Funds for this work through USEPA are in place. The remedial
work will focus on contamination from the chromated copper arsenate
(CCA) wood treatment system. CCA contamination exists in surface soil
and subsurface soil, and on portions of the equipment, buildings, and
concrete structures associated with the CCA treatment system. This work
description is not intended to be complete. A detailed description of
the proposed work is included in the bidding package which will be
available on February 10, 1997. Interested firms, upon request and
payment of a $100 non- refundable fee, will be supplied a bidding
package consisting of bidding instructions, design plans, construction
specifications, and associated subcontract documents. Interested firms
should send check or money order (cash will not be accepted) made
payable to Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp. Requests for the
bidding package should be sent to the Project Manager at the above
address and must include the name of the person and firm to receive the
package and their mailing address and telephone number. Bidding
packages will be sent by overnight courier. A mandatory pre-bid meeting
is scheduled on February 19, 1997, near the project site. The time and
place of the pre-bid meeting will be supplied in the bidding package.
All prospective bidders must attend this pre-bid conference, which
will include a site visit, to be eligible for consideration on this
work. Prospective bidders are advised of the following conditions: 1)
Site access is restricted. 2) Personnel entering or performing work on
the site at any time, including the pre-bid meeting site visit, must
comply with OSHA health and safety standards outlined in 29 CFR
1910.120 regarding medical monitoring and shall have all required
training and medical certificates available at the time of the site
visit. 3) All requests for information must be in writing addressed to
the Project Manager. 4) Bids will be accepted at the above address
