The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division proposes to acquire by full and open competition 75 each SLAM -- ER warhead housings and fuzewells to Government drawings, on a fixed price basis. The warhead housings will be forged to MIL-F-83142A Titanium Alloy (6AL-4V) specification. The housings shall be manufactured using forgings, electron-beam welding and machining processes. The finished warhead housings will be approximately 41 inches long by 14 inches in diameter. An option will be included for additional quantities (in multiples of 5 each from 5 to 100), however, the Government will not order in excess of 100 each over the life of the contract. Technical proposals are required, and award will be made on a best value basis. Award is anticipated around May 1997. Deliveries are to start in July 1998, with the option quantities starting 10/99.
