Horticultural Research Center, Ft. Pierce, Florida. Project consists of
multiple buildings on two separate sites approximately 1.5 kilometers
apart near Ft. Pierce, Florida. Laboratory Site -- 7.3 hectare (ha)
gross site area; 2.8 ha impervious area of which 1.5 ha is composed of
building and 1.4 ha is composed of sidewalks/ paving, 2.8 ha are to be
landscaped and 1.6 ha have been designed as stormwater management
structures. Buildings consist of a two- story 8,400 square meter main
laboratory, 5,000 square meters of screenhouse/greenhouse structures,
a 1,200 square meter Insectary/Central Utility Plant building, a 100
square meter Hazardous Materials Storage Building and a 400 square
meter Equipment Storage and Shop Building. Each separate building
includes structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire
protection systems as required. Farm Center -- 127 ha gross site area;
0.24 ha impervious area of which 0.16 ha is composed of buildings and
0.08 ha is composed of sidewalks/paving, 24.3 ha have been designed as
stormwater management structures and 62.3 ha dedicated to Grove (food
plot) planting. Buildings consist of all single story structures as
follows: A 320 square meter Office/Maintenance Shop Building, a 730
square meter Pole Barn/ Storage Building, a 160 square meter
Pesticide/Fertilizer Storage Building, and an 80 square meter
Greenhouse Building. Each separate building includes structural,
mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems as
required. The estimated price range is over $10 million. Period of
Performance is 670 calendar days. A Pre-Bid Conference is tentatively
scheduled for February 10, 1997. Sets of plans and specifications will
be available for a non-refundable fee of $300, payable by check or
money order made payable to: USDA, Agricultural Research Service, and
submitted to: Reynolds, Smith, and Hills, Inc., 4651 Salisbury Road,
Jacksonville, FL 32256, Attention: Mr. Dan Clayton. No
telephonerequests for the solicitation package will be accepted. The
solicitation is scheduled to be issued on/about January 28, 1997.
