Cincinnati, OH X -- LEASE OR RENTAL OF FACILITIES -- URANIUM MATERIALS STORAGE
FACILITY SOUGHT POC Elizabeth A. Straub, (513) 648-4402/Subcontract
Administrator. Fluor Daniel Fernald (FDF), Prime Contractor for the
United States Department of Energy's (DOE's) Fernald Environmental
Management Project (FEMP), Fernald, Hamilton County, Ohio, is seeking
expressions of interest from SOURCE(s) for the storage of depleted,
normal, and enriched uranium in various forms. The time frame needed
for storage would be five (5) to ten (10) years beginning in mid-1998.
THIS NOTICE IS A REQUEST FOR INTERESTED SOURCES ONLY AND DOES NOT
OBLIGATE FDF TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION. The material is generally as
follows; the quantities may be less than these at the time of storage
but would not exceed these amounts: DEPLETED: UO E T='52'>3 /E>, 93,297 net pounds, 1,320 square foot package; UF E T='52'>4 /E>, 4,281,671 net pounds, 14,440 square foot package; Metal, 4,132,621
net pounds, 4,420 square foot package; Total 20,180 square feet.
NORMAL: UO E T='52'>3 /E>, 138 net pounds; UF E T='52'>4 /E>, 13,979 net pounds, 72 square foot package; Metal, 473,571 net
pounds, 1,443 square foot package; Total 1,515 square feet. ENRICHED
(.712-19.9% U E T='51'>235 /E>): UO E T='52'>3 /E>, 1,861,168 net pounds, 58,280 square foot package; UF E T='52'>4 /E>, 807,351 net pounds, 22,856 square foot package; Metal, 1,149,763
(.95-1.25%) net pounds, 15,150 square foot package; Misc. Residues,
2,226,748 (.712-1%) net pounds, 15,044 square foot package; Misc.

pounds, 111,848 square foot package; Misc. Residues, 12,122 (greater
than 2 and less than or equal to 19.9%) net pounds, 1,200 square foot
package; Total 224,378 square feet. The inventory above contains 29,989
kilograms of U E T='51'>235 /E> (6,467 kgs in depleted, 1,533 kgs in normal, and 21,989 in
enriched). The preferred conditions for storage would be that which
would minimize initial expenditures by the government (i.e., sites that
possess available warehouse space would be given preference over a
construction scenario). The site must possess, or be able to readily
acquire, capability for accountability of the materials according to
the requirements of 10 CFR 74 and surveillance through disposition
according to the requirements of 10 CFR 73. The materials will be
packaged for shipment by FDF into FDF-supplied containers and delivered
to the storage site. Details of proposed packaging will be provided in
the Request for Proposal (RFP) when it is issued. The storage site
must possess all required licenses for handling nuclear materials.
Transfer of the materials would be subject to, and contingent upon, all
applicable federal, state, and local requirements. Firms interested in
storing this material for the government should request a copy of the
RFP and submit their proposal in accordance with the instructions
contained therein. Expressions of interest with required information
must be submitted in writing to Fluor Daniel Fernald, ATTN: Ms.
