Notice of intent to negotiate a sole-source contract to Metocean Data Systems, Ltd. to purchase six (6) Lagrangian drifter buoys. Metocean Data Systems Ltd. has designed and tested Lagrangian drifter buoys over a two-year period. Lagrangian drifter buoys utilized an Ocean Color Monitor (OCM) and a temperature sensor not available on previous models of this buoy. Buoys will be used to track parcels of water detecting changes in the concentration of phytoplankton biomass. Six buoys must be delivered by 4/1/97. This is a small purchase action with an estimated amount of less than $100,000. (0340)
