SWITZERLAND: PREPACKAGES OF MEASURABLE GOODS The following notification is being circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.96.397. 1. Member to Agreement notifying: Switzerland. Title, number of pages and language(s) of the notified document: Ordinance on the Declaration of Contents. 6. Description of content: Requirements for prepackages. The Ordinance is applicable to all measurable goods, i.e. goods whose price is directly proportional to the net quantity sold. Main items: Measuring instruments for direct sale to the public must be verified; prepackages must bear a declaration of net content; the mean value of the contents of the production must be equal or higher than the declared content; individual packages may be underfilled at maximum by the value of MPE; the competent body controls prepackages at production or importation by means of a statistical method. Technical requirements and statistical methods are fully compatible with those of the European legislation. Provisions are made for the recognition of foreign official conformity marks. 7. Objective and rationale: The main features of the scheme have been in force since 1972. The revision aims at a simpler and clearer text and total harmonization with the European legislation. 8.
