circulated in accordance with Article 10.6. G/TBT/Notif.96.396. 1.

applicable): This Regulation shall apply to MF/HF radiotelephones,
MF/HF radiotelex equipment, emergency position indicating radio beacons
(EPIRB) operating on 121.5 and 243 MHz, emergency position indicating
radio beacons (EPIRB) operating on 406 MHz, emergency position
indicating radio beacons (EPIRB) operating on 1.6 GHz band, portable
UHF radiotelephones, radar transponders (SART), digital selective
calling equipment (DSC), watchkeeping receivers on 2182 kHz and NAVTEX
safety data receivers. 5. Title, number of pages and language(s) of

Certain Maritime Radio Equipment (5 pages, available in English). 6.
Description of content: This draft Regulation is an up-dated version of
TAC 19/93 M. Its scope covers all radio equipment in the maritime
mobile service except for maritime VHF radiotelephones for which there
is another regulation. The purpose of the amendments done now was to
update the standard references and to remove some old equipment groups
for which new type approvals are not needed any more. The Regulation
contains a mutual recognition clause for test reports from other
countries. 7. Objective and rationale: The aim of this Regulation is
the efficient use of the radio frequency spectrum and safety of
maritime transport. 8. Relevant documents: This Regulation is included
in the Series of Regulations issued by the TAC. 9. Proposed date of
