Applicants may request support for up to two years. Fellowships must begin not later than Fall 1997. Candidates must submit an application which includes a Personal Information Form, a supporting letter from an institution official, graduate transcripts, a letter of endorsement from the proposed naval contact, and a project plan not to exceed five pages. Evaluation and selection will be based on available evidence of demonstrated and potential ability as well as potential impact and relevance of the dissertation research on problems of naval readiness. Applicants are encouraged to submit a complete application to assure the most competitive review possible. Each application will be reviewed by a panel of experts in the discipline(s) represented by the applications. Final selection of awardees will be made by the Office of Naval Research.
