The Air Force Flight Test Center (AFFTC) has a requirement for a B-2 Engine Intermediate Level Functional Testing after maintenance. Test Cell adapter kit must mount into a standard A/F32T-9 enclosed test facility with overhead structure. This adapter must be able to functionaly test a F118-GE-100 engine. The adapter must be able to support an engine with an exhaust output of 25,000 lbs of thrust and have a safety factor of three. Approximate weight of the engine is 3,365 lbs., length 100.5 inches, and 46.54 inch diameter. Adapter kit consists of a support frame, fiberglass engine inlet bellmouth assembly, exhaust nozzle assembly and associated hardware as required. Complex bends and countours of materials are required to meet specified tolerances in addition to counterbored holes and spotfaced holes. Manufacturer must conform to wall thickness requirements for desired strength and support. Aluminum, steel and steel alloys will be utilized in the manufacture of his assembly as well as fiberglass, rolled steel, tubing and components. Paint applied must meet all military/industry standards. Manufacturer must have the ability to meet all industry standard fluorescent dye penetrent inspection criteria. Manufacturer must have the ability to stress relieve steel and steel alloys, and welded assemblies as required by military/industry standards. Manufacturer must have the ability to meet thermal assembly requirements for the engine inlet bellmouth assembly using the appropriate autoclave. Manufacturer must have the ability to build electrical harnesses for incorporation into the test cell adapter kit that will interface with the F118-GE-100 engine and meet all industry standards. Adapter kit must be manufactured according to supplied drawings and other Air Force technical publications. The manufacturer must have the ablity to assist with on site set-up as required, as well the certification of all equipment throught full user functional checkout. The adapter kit must be validated through load testing on cite at Edwards AFB. Required delivery date is Oct 97. Solicitation will be available on or about 9 Dec 96.
