Naval Air Systems Command has a requirement for the procurement of
approximately fifty-two (52) and seventy-seven (77) F414-GE-400 engines
(or such other procurement quantities as Congress may authorize and
fund) for Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) II and III, respectively.
This procurement also includes logistics support hardware and
services, support engineering, and OPEVAL flight test support. The
anticipated delivery of LRIP II and III F414 engines will commence
calendar year 1999 and 2000, respectively. The Naval Air Systems
Command intends to negotiate with General Electric Aircraft Engines
(GEAE), located at 1000 Western Avenue, Lynn, MA 01910, the designer
and developer of the F414-GE-400 engine. GEAE is the only known firm
possessing the specialized experience and technical capability to
provide the requirements within the time period. This synopsis is for
