The Dahlgren Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren, VA is soliciting proposals on a sole source/brand name only basis for a fixed price contract for supplying Sumitomo cable as stated below. These materials are required for interfacing the Integrated Ship Defense Systems Engineering Center (SDSEC) to the AEGIS Combat Systems Center (ACSC) at Wallops Island, Virginia. Air-blown fiber (ABF) is required both within and external to the ISDSEC due to flexible nature of operations at the facility. Combat system data must be exchanged between the ISDSEC and the ACSC via fiber optic cables. These optical fiber cables must be rapidly reconfigured to support changing ship class baselines of new and existing combat systems. Equipment will be moved frequently within the ISDSEC, as well as new hardware will be frequently installed. AFB is the only product that allows fiber cables to be easily and economically added or removed within and between the buildings. AFB uses a unique design of tube cables, blowing machines and fiber that was developed and patented by British Telecommunications. AFB tube cables can be run early in the facility's activation phase and fiber cables can be blown later as needed with minimal disruption when changes are required. Driven by either adding or moving equipment, fiber cables can be easily removed and reused where needed. Additionally these materials must be compatible with the existing direct-buried segment of AFB conduit which has already been installed during the construction phase of the project. Any substitutions may impact the mission of ISDSEC. Sumitomo Electric is the sole U.S. licensed producer of this product. Only authorized distributors of Sumitomo Electric will be considered. The requirement includes the following: 19-tube no SCM/LAP Sheath p/n TC19TLW, 2000 foot reels, quantity 2 reels; 6 fiber bundle/single model p/n FB06SX 8200 ft reel, quantity 1 reel; and 18 fiber bundle/62.5 micron multimode fiber, p/n FB18M6, 5900 foot reel, quantity 1 reel.
