The Carderock Division Naval Surface Warfare Center intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with AEA Technology Engineering Software for CFX-1 Solver Software. NSWC is conducting a computational study of the fuel/water flows within Naval combatant compensated fuel-ballast tanks. NSWC requires a fluid flow solver which can handle both complex geometry and two-fluid ( fuel and water ) flows. The CFX-1 4.1 solver uses a multi-phase computational algorithm in which multiple types of fluid are modelled with their own sets of equations. This is important for modelling both mixing and agglomeration. Solutions to complex flow geometries can efficiently be found because the problems are solved on body fitted meshes. The CFX-1 4.1 solver will be delivered in the form of a binary code which will run on a H/P 9000 model 735/99 workstation.
