Director, (202)287-2158. The Smithsonian Institution intends to
contract with a professional construction management firm to manage
miscellaneous construction projects primarily in the Washington,
metropolitan area, and New York City metropolitan area but also in
other Smitshonian Facilities in the U.S. This will be a task order
contract for one year with four one-year options. The total contract
value will not exceed $3 million for the base year; $4 million for
option year 1; $5 million for option year 2; $4 million for option year
3; and $3 million for option year 4 for a potential dollar total of $19
million over a five year period. The firm selected will assist the
Smithsonian Institution in performing pre-design, design and
construction phase services for selected projects. Pre-design scopes of
project will be well defined so that the projects can be designed by an
architect/engineer under separate contract to the Smithsonian
Institution and the construction work will be performed in conformity
with Smithsonian Institution's requirements and completed on schedule.
Contractors must meet the following qualification criteria before
submittal will be evaluated: Must have successfully completed or be
currently working as construction manager on projects that exceed an
average value of $100 million in construction value per year for the
last three years; and Firm must have an active construction management
office in both the District of Columbia and New York City or set-up an
office in each city prior to selection in order to be able to respond
to task orders anticipated under the contract. Evaluation criteria are:
A. Approach to carrying out tasks under the contract; B. Experience and
technical capabilities of the firm in construction management
(Experience should include construction management for new and
renovation projects, and renovation of historically significant
projects in the metropolitan D.C. and N.Y. area is highly desirable);
and C. Staff Qualifications - Qualified firms should submit a SF-254
and 255 and additional information responding to the evaluation
criteria no later than 2:00 P.M. 30 calendar days from date of this
publication (first workday following a weekend or holiday) in order to
be considered for selection. Submissions should be delivered to Derek
