to be performed under this project consists of the rehabilitation of
HVAC and dormitory toilet/shower room areas located in Building Nos. 1
through 5 at the Old Dominion Job Corps Center in Monroe, Virginia.
The HVAC work includes demolition, alterations, and installation of new
equipment in Buildings Nos. 1 through 5. New dual-temperature water
piping will be supplied to a new 170 ton air cooled chiller and the
existing hot water system to new vertical fan coil units. Mechanical
demolition includes removal of the existing chiller, cooling tower, and
all associated equipment. The toilet renovation work consists of
alterations and renovations to the dormitories toilet, shower, and
laundry rooms, including asbestos abatement, masonry, steel door
frames, wood doors, door hardware, toilet and shower stalls, counters,
plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and related
electrical components. Interior finishing and related construction
includes acoustical panel ceilings, ceramic tile, related plaster, and
painting. Plumbing fixtures includes water closet, urinals, showers,
and lavatories. The estimated cost range of construction is between
$1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Substantial completion shall be in 308
calendar days from the notice to proceed. Plans and Specifications will
be available on November 26, 1996, from the office of the
Architect/Engineer, Joseph Ladd and Associates - Temple Wilkinson
Architect, 201 North Washington Highway, Suite 206, Ashland, Virginia

information regarding this project. Collect calls will not be accepted.
It is emphasized that requests for Plans and Specifications shall be
directed to the A/E firm listed above to ensure proper handling of
requests. All requests must be in writing and a $104.00 refundable
bid-deposit is required. The bid deposit must be in the form of a
certified check, cashier's check or money order, made payable to the
U.S. Department of Labor, and submitted to the A/E firm at the time of
request. Requests will be answered on a first-come, first-serve basis
until supplies are exhausted. For requests made after the supply is
exhausted, the Contracting Officer may determine whether payment of a
fee is warranted. The non-refundable fee shall not exceed the actual
cost of duplication of the IFB documents, plus COD charges. A pre-bid
walk-thru is scheduled for December 12, 1996, at 10:00 a.m. local time.
Bid-opening date is January 7, 1997, at 2:00 p.m. local time. This is
a 100% Small Business Set-Aside. The Standard Industrial Classification
