20 -- OPERATOR CABS FOR DREDGE CHRISTENSEN DUE 121096 POC Edwin W. Durling, Contract Specialist, (507) 272-4690 Sources Sought: The Panama Canal Commission, a corporation of the United States Government, is seeking commercial interest, through this market survey, in supplying two (2) operator cabs for the Dredge Christensen. The Dredge Christensen was built in 1977 and the original operator cabs need a replacement for upgrading their control system. The dimensions of the existing cabs are the following: length: 8'-2 1/2''; width: 8'-2 1/2''; height: 8'- 7 1/2''. They are located port and starboard side of the dredge. They are electrically fitted with all control features, including hand lever and foot controls, spud monitoring, electric and navigational gauges, overhead searchlight, radio, and seating arrangements. The proposed cabs shall be fitted to accommodate the existing controls and to improve current problems such as vibration, noise level, window fog, visibility and air conditioning. Also, the Commission would like to include new features to better control its existing operation, such as state of the art monitoring and control systems for marine excavating process. There are no design imprints for these cabs. Interested potential sources may conduct an on-site assessment of the Dredge Christensen.
