Center, 12201 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, VA 22092 70 -- TRIAL USE OF FORTRAN 90 COMPILER POC Contact, Patrick Robertson,
Contracting Officer, (703) 648-7368 This is not a notice for a
solicitation. The US Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting a market
survey of commercial-off- the-shelf (COTS) software that is available
that has the following capabilities: meets the ANSI X3.198-1992
standard, includes High Performance Fortran (HPF) and Fortran 95
language features, meets IEEE arithmetic exception handling, includes
Fortran 77 language extensions such as Hollerith data, and provides
interactive code debugging and static analysis tools. As a part of this
market survey the USGS will be examining the capabilities of software
from Numerical Algorithms Group, Inc's (NAG) Fortran 90 Compiler with
tools (debugger, static analysis, error checking, code formation) for
unrestricted use on the USGS computing platform. The NAG software will
be examined by the USGS at no charge on a 60 day trial basis. NAG~s
software will be returned upon completion of the trial. Required
platforms are: Data General Aviion workstations under the DG/UX
operating system and Pentium-based computers running Windows NT.
Optional computing platforms are Sun SPARCstation under Solaris,
Silicon Graphics under IRIX, Digital Equipment Corporation Alpha under
Digital UNIX, and International Business Machines RS6000 under AIX.
Vendors who have COTS software that believe they can provide the
capabilities as stated above are invited to submit product literature
for such software along with commercial pricing within 15 calendar days
from the date of notice. Any information submitted must be submitted at
no charge to the USGS. Following such review, the contracting officer
may invite the vendor to furnish the software for a trial examination
as is being done with the NAG software. The USGS currently has no
intent to conduct a procurement action for software with the above
capabilities. In the event the need for a procurement arises in the
future, the USGS will comply with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
requirements for publicizing such action. Information gathered during
any trial examination resulting from this CBD announcement will not be
used as a basis for any potential noncompetitive procurement action.
