The Smithsonian Institution is seeking proposals to furnish all
supervision, labor, materials, and equipment required for the
construction of the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) HVAC
Renovation Phase Ib - East Penthouse System as set forth on Drawings 1
through 30 dated 26 June 1995; Phase Ic - East Penthouse System as set
forth on Drawings 1 through 108 dated 26 June 1995; Phase XIa -
Temporary Space - Hall 21 and Phase XIb - Temporary Space - Hall 22 as
set forth on Drawings 1 through 38 dated 12 July 1996; and combined
Specifications 1 through 756 dated 26 June 1995, for OPP Project No.
933108. The Scope of Work (for all Phases) includes, at a minimum:
demolition, including demolition of interior walls, doors, ceilings,
equipment, piping, ductwork, and conduit, temporary protective
structures, temporary HVAC and asbestos abatement; interior finishes;
HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection; weather and security
protection of existing building; phasing; protection of specimens and
storage collections. Copies of drawings and specifications can be
purchased by interested parties at their own expense (this cost is

submitting a proposal in response to this solicitation need copies of
the Request for Proposal (RFP) bid documents. The bidding documents
(excluding the drawings and specifications) are available upon written
request from Smithsonian Institution, Office of Contracting and
Property Management, 955 L'Enfant Plaza, S.W., Suite P-114, Washington,
D.C. 20024, attn: Code 28. Requests for bid documents should be written
on company letterhead and have complete street address, telephone and
facsimile numbers, and name of company representative (written requests
for bid documents may be delivered to the above address by facsimile
transmission to 202-287-2008). Interested parties may attend a
pre-proposal meeting to be conducted at Smithsonian Institution. Date,
time and location of pre-proposal meeting and due date for submission
of proposals will be included in the bid documents. All firms
responding to this solicition will be required to submit a business and
technical proposal for evaluation. The estimated price range for this
