COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 22,1996 PSA#170516th Contracting Squadron, 350 Tully Street, PO Box 9190, Hurlburt
Field FL 32544-9190 70 -- EQUIPMENT CAPABLE OF MEASURING, SENSING & RECORDING
ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS AT THE EARTH'S SURFACE. SOL F08620 POC
Contracting Officers - Gloria Dulin 904-884-3272 and Scott Ilg
904-884-1258. This is a request for informatation (RFI). There is no
solicitation available at this time. The Government will not pay for
any information received in response to this RFI, nor will the
Government compensate any respondent for any costs incurred in
developing the information provided to the Government. The Air Force
Combat Weather Center (AFCWC) is soliciting information on the latest
generation of commercial weather systems. We seek those systems which
are lightweight, durable, easy to maintain, and simple to use, making
them strongly suited for deployed operations. Our goal is to entertain
demonstrations and operational evaluations to assess each system's
ability to satisfy the demanding requirements of worldwide military
weather operations. We specifically seek equipment capable of
measuring, sensing, and recording the following environmental elements
at the earth's surface and aloft: wind, visibility (horizontal, slant,
and vertical), barometric pressure, cold base heights, present weather
conditions (e.g., precipitation (type, intensity, rate, and
accumulation) and obstructions to vision), transmissivity, temperature,
dew point temperature and/or other measures of atomospheric moisture,
soil temperature and moisture content, and lightning detection. We are
also interested in UNIX and DOS/Windows computer forecasting systems
which can ingest data from multiple sources, process it, and present
information to weather as well as non-weather personnel in easy to
understand formats. The weather forecasting systems should be oriented
to support aviation and ground-based assets. Finally, we are also
looking for deployable meteorological satellite data receiving systems
as well as small, lightweight antenna technologies and small, portable
weather radar systems. Responses to this advertisement should be
