(505) 665-0154, P.O. Box 1663, Los Alamos, NM 87545. The University of
California, which operates the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL)
under contract to the Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking industrial
partners interested in cooperative research and development activities
with the goal of developing technology partnerships for the
cooperative development of the advanced manufacturing technologies
processes underpinning the future production of nuclear weapons
components and systems. The purpose of the Defense Programs Industrial
Partnerships (DPIP), program is to execute activities that are
cost-shared with industry and that will acquire, co-develop, prove, and
realize technologies and processes critical to supporting the
manufacturability of specialized, nuclear weapons components. The DPIP
program is managed by the Industrial Partnership Office (IPO) at LANL
in support of the Nuclear Weapons Technology (NWT) and Nuclear
Materials and Stockpile Management (NMSM) Program Offices. For FY 97,
the areas of interest include Product Realization-(Simulation in Lieu
of Testing, Models Based Engineering and Manufacturing); Casting,
Forming and Joining of Nuclear Components (Superplastic Forming,
Strip-Casting Processes for Alloy Sheet Fabrication); Advanced Coatings
(Coating Uniformity and Microstructure Simulation, Rare-Earth Oxide
Coatings); Precision Machining and Inspection of Strategic Nuclear
Materials, High Explosives and Metals (On-Machine In-Process
Inspection, Non-Contact Inspection, Open Architecture Control Machining
and Inspection); and Advanced Diagnostics (X-ray Computed Tomography,
Optical Imaging and Metrology). Industrial partners are being sought to
enter into cooperative research and development activities including,
but not limited to, Cooperative Research and Development Agreements
(CRADAs), Funds-in-Agreements, Cost-Shared Sub-Contracts, and Personnel
Exchanges. Any company that is interested in pursuing this opportunity
should respond with a brief statement describing the company's
