The Federal Bureau of Prisons intends to award a service contract for Courier Service. Pick-ups will be performed from the Health Services Unit, at the Federal Correctional Institution, Petersburg, Virginia. The services include transporting laboratory samples and X-Ray films from the Federal Correctional Institution to the Veterans Administration Medical Center. The contractor shall deliver all laboratory specimen and x-ray films to the appropriate department at the VA Medical Center. The contractor is required to have extensive knowledge of how to properly handle and transport human fluid specimens. The contractor will adhere to OSHA/CDC guidelines in the handling of these medical specimens. The contractor shall furnish a copy of all state licenses, certifications, and/or registrations as required by the state of Virginia, in the transportation of medical specimens. This contract will include a base year not to exceed (12) twelve months from date of award, with four (4), one (1) year option periods for renewal. Estimated number of pick -ups for the base year =260, ( five pick-ups per week.) Option Year #1 estimated pick-ups = 260, Option Year #2 estimated pick-ups = 260, Option Year #3 estimated pick-ups = 260, Option Year #4 estimated pick-ups = 260.
