Agency for International Development (USAID/Indonesia), intends to
award a non-competitive modification to contract no.
497-0357-C-00-2055-00 with the Clemson University for additional 12
months period of services for an estimated amount of approximately
USD425,000. The purpose of the project is to provide technical
assistance directly linked to the National Integrated Pest Management
(IPM) training program. The objectives are to: 1) Carry out surveys on
Palawija pests to determine of crop losses due to pests and levels of
biological control; 2) development a research program focusing on the
use of pathogens and parasitoids and test them in the fields; 3) store
and multiply potential insect pathogens for research and multiply
potential insect pathogens for research and training needs; and 4)
strengthen the ability of national researchers to carry out field
research to support IPM training program. The specific objectives of
the 12 months extension period are to: 1) produce materials for use by
tsaimers and farmers from the information gained from field studies
and surveys during the first four years and one year extension of the
project; 2) produce biocontrol agents for controlling cabbage and
shaijst's pests at laboratory, and introduce the agents to IPM trainers
and farmers; 3) evaluate and develop control strategies for new pest in
potato; 4) identify and assess real and perceived pests in soybean; and
