Contracting Officer (301) 496-3704. The Department of Transfusion
Medicine of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is seeking a
contractor to maintain and administer a donor recruitment and apheresis
program. The contractor will be required to: 1) recruit sufficient
volunteer donors to support the red cell, white cell, and platelet
transfusion needs of the Clinical Center patients; 2) manage the
recruitment aspects and maintain the files of a large registry of
unrelated potential bone marrow donors; 3) administer and expand donor
recruitment programs for voluntary whole blood donors, voluntary
plateletpheresis and leukapheresis donors, research cytapheresis and
plasma donors, and unrelated volunteer bone marrow donors; 4) establish
and maintain a list of a minumum of 40,000 HLA-typed bone marrow donors
sufficient to participate in the National Marrow Donor Registry; and 5)
perform plateletpheresis, plasmapheresis and leukapheresis procedures
sufficient to meet the transfusion needs of NIH Clinical Center
patients in conformance with applicable regulations, including the FDA
and AABB. A five year cost-reimbursement type contract is anticipated.
