(VPN) TECHNOLOGY FOR THE MISSION CONTROL CENTER (MCC), AT THE NASA
JOHNSON SPACE CENTER (JSC) Due 093096. Contact: F. D. Pell,

#M-653, is being conducted by Lockheed Martin Space Information
Systems (Lockheed Martin) in support of NASA Johnson Space Center
contract NAS9-18300. The draft Technical Requirement for Virtual
Private Networking (VPN) Technology is being released to industry for
review by interested sources. This is not a Request For Proposal (RFP);
it is a Request For Information (RFI) purposes only as contemplated by
Paragraph 15.405 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Lockheed
Martin, on behalf of NASA Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, Houston TX,
is requesting information to identify potential subcontractors who can
provide Virtual Private Networking (VPN) Technology. The VPN
technology should provide the capability to securely communicate
between mulitple private networks as a transport median. The VPN shall
have the following capabilities: encryption/decryption of TCP/IP
packets across the network - encryption/decryption of TCP/IP packets
passed through multiple firewalls. - development and propagation of
public and private ``keys''. - ensure that an individual user, a
separate workstation or a group of workstations can be authenticated.
- source and destination authentication in conjunction with user
authentication - a user can attach to the VPN and securely acquire
services across the network from a remote location other than a private
network. VPN shall be transparent to all TCP/IP applications. VPN shall
be interoperate with different firewalls. VPN shall provide exportable
versions. This request is not a request for formal proposal.
Information submitted in response to this request is for evaluation
purposes only and will not impose any obligation, liability or cost on
Lockheed Martin Space Information Systems. It is also requested that
the potential Subcontractors specify whether a product can be supplied,
under no cost, for evaluation and possibly demonstration to NASA by
Lockheed Martin. Respondents may or may not be notified concerning
evaluation results of any information submitted. Responses to this

provide any prospective Offerors with the comments submitted by other
companies, nor will Lockheed Martin provide prospective Offerors with
the results of our dispositioning, other than through a formal RFP,
which may or may not be issued at a later date. Also, at this time,
Lockheed Martin does not plan to conduct a presolicitation conference
in the event a formal RFP is issued. The following provisions apply to
this RFI: a. This RFI is for planning purposes and as such, Lockheed
Martin does not intend to award a subcontract on the basis of this RFI
or to pay or otherwise reimburse any offeror for any information
received. b. This RFI is issued for the sole purpose of obtaining
information, and suggestions from prospective Offerors. Offerors may or
may not be notified concerning evaluation results of any information
submitted. Lockheed Martin appreciates your interest in the subject RFI
