NATICK MA 01760-5019 A -- BALLISTIC PROTECTIVE MATERIALS DEVELOPMENT, MARKET RESEARCH
NUMBER: SOL W13G07-CBD6-0036 POC Janet Ward (508) 233-5462 (Site Code
DAAK60) The U.S. Army Natick Research, Development and Engineering
Center is conducting market research to compile a list of manufacturers
with lightweight material systems that provide ballistic protection
against hand guns at levels similar to the National Institute of
Justice Levels I through IIIA. This Center is particularly interested
in systems offering a reduction in weight over 1994 technologies with
no or marginal increase in cost. As an example, systems with areal
denisites not exceeding 1.2 pounds per square foot for Level IIIA are
of interest as are similar weight reductions (greater than 10% over
1994 weights) for lower levels of protection. Interested firms are
requested to submit information on their products within thirty (30)
days following the publication of this synopsis. This should include as
a minimum, an item description which details the material description
including areal density, any ballistic certifications, cost estimates
and any other specific information which the firm believes demonstrates
the value of their system(s). THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. No
solicitation document is available at this time.(0254) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0007 19960911\A-0007.SOL)
