RANDY BROWN (601) 634-4119 (Site Code DACW39) Furnish all labor,
equipment, materials, and supplies necessary for the construction of a
21,930 sq. ft. environmental chemistry laboratory building at the U.S.
Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station, Vicksburg, MS. The
construction is designed to complement the architecture of the existing
buildings in the area and provide space for chemistry laboratories for
research and development purposes and offices for engineers and
scientists. The construction may be described as a slab on grade
foundation, steel post frame and beam, single level structure with
brick exterior. Roofing consists of both single ply membrane and
standing seam metal. Interior walls are gypsum board over metal studs.
Suspended ceilings throughout. Seamless flooring is required in
specified laboratory areas. Construction of fire separation for the
laboratories is required along with installation of a fire detection
and suppression system. The building HVAC is supplied through a chilled
water/VAV system with two air cooled chillers, 122 tons each, located
on the flat roof above the material receiving area. Hot water is
supplied by two natural gas fired boilers, 1357 MBH input/1084 MBH
output each, located in the mechanical room. The contractor will
install Government furnished equipment including, but not limited to:
750 kva electrical transformer, backup generator, power conditioners,
and walk-in cooler. The laboratories require case work, fume hoods,
special gases such as argon, oxygen, hydrogen, helium (some distributed
from central storage), RO water, vacuum, and compressed air. Site work
includes demolition of existing utilities and new construction to
include overhead electrical, water, natural gas, sanitary sewer, and
storm sewer. Site work also requires demolition of existing roadway,
minor site grading, construction of approximately 250 linear feet of
cast in place concrete retaining wall ten feet high, recessed loading
dock, new paving, and parking areas. The estimated cost of construction
is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Bid Documents, plans and
specifications will be available to all eligible sources at a cost of
$85.00 per set (non-refundable), payable by check or money order only.

available to award a contract; therefore, no contract award will be
made until appropriated funds are made available from which payment for
contract purposes can be made. If the successful bidder is considered
