The Federal Bureau of Investigation intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Smith & Wesson, for the permanent modification of 800 revolvers. These weapons will be used for training purposes only. These permanent modifications will be done on agency owned Model 10 and Model 13 revolvers of both .38 and .357 caliber. The conversion will allow these weapons to chamber only Simunition .38 caliber FX marking rounds. Smith & Wesson is the manufacturer of these handguns, which are covered by a lifetime warranty when work is completed by their company.
