All timber and lumber shall be Western Larch or Coastal Douglas Fir No. 1 Grade or Better conforming to current WWPA Grading Rules for Western Lumber or current WCLIB Standard Grading Rules for West Coast Lumber. . SPECIFICATIONS FOR ALL BRIDGES LOGS: All members shall be Western Larch or Coastal Douglas Fir conforming to ASTM D 25-91. FABRICATION: No shop drawings are required for treated timber. All pieces shall be marked with the piece mark shown on the drawings, such as N1, B1, etc. Inspection markings are required as called for below under ''Inspection and Certification.'' TREATMENT: After fabrication, all lumber shall be incised (members too large for machine incising shall be manually incised) and pressure treated in accordance with AWPA C-2 for solid sawn members and C-4 for logs using Pentachlorophenal meeting AWPA P-8 using an AWPA P-9 Type A solvent to a retention of 0.6 pcf. Penetration shall be specified in AWPA. INSPECTION AND CERTIFICATION: The following compliance certificates shall be furnished upon delivery: (a) Supplier certification that all wood materials meet the requirements as to species and grade; (b) Certification of preservative, penetration in inches, and retention in pounds per cubic foot (assay method) by either a qualified testing and inspection agency or supplier certification. Supplier certification requires each solid piece to be stamped or branded with the AWPB Quality Mark.
