66 -- S-OPTION INTERFACE UPGRADE POC William J. Wise, Contracting Officer, 513/366-2025 The USEPA intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 6.302, with Fisons Instruments for the acquisition of an S-option interface upgrade which will replace an existing vacuum interface on a VG PlasmaQuad Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer. Because this upgrade will replace a fundamental component of the instrument it must be totally compatible with the existing instrument, which is completely controlled and operated via a computer key board and mouse. The required interface upgrade must be 100% compatible with the existing ICP-MS in terms of software, electronics, and ion transmission characteristics. This compatibility can only be achieved by Fisons Instruments due to the proprietary nature of the software and associated electronics. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. Sources wishing to be considered must submit documentation to the office identified above which establishes the ability to furnish equipment which is fully compatible with the existing ICP-MS system.
