COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 23,1996 PSA#1665Army Research Laboratory, ALC Procurement Division, ATTN: AMSRL-OP-
SD-PS, 2800 Powder Mill Road, Adelphi, Maryland 20783-1197 99 -- GLOVE BOX SYSTEMS SOL DAAL01-96-R-9851 DUE 092696 POC Omar Ali,
Contract Specialist, (301) 394-1048, Kathleen M. Tennant, Contracting
Officer, (301) 394-3439. The contractor shall provide and install six
(6) Glove Box Systems. The acquired glove box systems must continue to
support power sources (lithium battery and electrochemical capacitor)
projects within ARL and the US Army. The glove box system will provide
state-of-the-science capabilities in nonaqueous electrochemistry and
chemistry. High power and high energy power sources such as lithium
batteries and electrochemical capacitators contain materials such as
mettalic lithium and nonaqueous electrolytes which must be handled in
an atmosphere containing less than 1 ppm moisture of oxygen. The glove
box systems must provide the inert atmosphere for these
electrochemical studies. The glove box system must provide the user
with a user friendly interface to help maintain the box and the inert
operating atmosphere on an ongoing basis. Further, the glove box system
must be equiped with the necessary electrical feedthroughs and shelves
to support the electrochemical work proposed for the glove boxes. The
contractor shall install equipment at Adelphi, MD and shall, using
said equipment, demonstrate that the unit meets manufacturers stated
specifications. The contractor shall also provide an industry standard
warranty that will include parts, labor, and shipping, for at least
one year from the date of acceptance of the full system. The contractor
shall provide formal training to US Army Research Laboratory personnel.
Delivery shall be made no earlier than July 1997. The Government shall
notify the contractor of the specific delivery date. Timely
notification (three months advance) will be given by the Government to
the contractor to ensure that the contractor has sufficient time to
complete shipment of the unit to the Government location for the
specified delivery date. Installation of the glove box systems shall be
made within four (4) weeks, twenty (20) working days, after the
specified delivery date. The period of performance for this action is
12 months. It is the intent of the Government to award a contract on a
sole source basis pursuant to FAR 6.302-1. Interested sources are
encouraged to provide a statement of interest and supporting evidence
of their capability to provide such items to the Contracting Officer
within fifteen (15) calendar days after publication of this synopsis.
The final determination by the Government not to open this requirement
to competition based on information provided is solely within the
descration of the Government. Interested firms should indicate if they
are a large or small business. All responsible sources may submit a
bid or proposal which will be considered by the Agency. No telephone
requests will be honored. See Numbered Note(s): 22. (0234) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0279 19960822\99-0001.SOL)
