Officer, Clarence Jackson, Jr., 301-496-3704. The NIH, Clinical Center
has a requirement to procure a total of 963 each rats for research
purposes on a sole source bsis under the authority of 41 USC 253 (c)(1)
as set forth in FAR 6.301-1,with Zivic-Miller Labs. The animals are
needed for continuing on-going research projects in which baselines
were established using animals from Zivic-Miller Labs. To reduce the
introduction of new variables, it is essential to use the exact
procedures until completion of the research. The contractor shall
provide male or female Sprague-Dawley Strain ZML: (SD) VAF rats varying
in age, weight, and surgical modification. The contractor shall
regularly engage in the breeding, raising, and shipping of the species
of animals specified herein for a period not to exceed six months of
the effective date of award or a 963 animals. Animals supplied under
this agreement shall be reared and maintained in the Contractor's
facilities. The contractor will place permanent central venous
catheters and arterial catheters in the animal as needed for use by the
researcher. In some cases the animals will require two (2) catheters of
each type. Approximately 308 will require double catheters and 628 will
require single catheters. The contractor shall provide the rats on a
weekly basis; 36 minimum to 72 maximum per week as requested by
National Institutes of Health researchers, and with required catheters
already inserted. Any other firm that believes it has the ability to
meet the Government requirements is invited to respond to this notice.
