The Fleet Industrial Supply Center Norfolk, Detachment Philadelphia intends to acquire from Abbott Laboratories Diagnostic Division various reagents, controls, panels, and kits for use by Naval Submarine Base New London to perform various testing of patient samples and performing quality control. FOB Destination to Groton, CT. Required delivery and installation is staggered, beginning 01 Oct 1996 and ending 30 Sep 1997. This proposed contract action is for supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with the Abbott Laboratories Diagnostic Division under authority of FAR 6.302-1. This firm is considered the only supplier of these supplies because the supplies must be compatible with the Abbott IMX Analyzer. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 20 days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of the notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
