COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 6,1996 PSA#1652US Env. Protection Agency, CMD-RTP MD-33 (TN), Research Triangle Park,
NC 27711 U -- GRADUATE-LEVEL TRAINING ON EXPOSURE ASSESSMENT SOL UPA210 POC
Otelia Newsome, Contract Specialist (919)541-3164/Vickie Presnell,
Contracting Officer. The Environmental Protection Agency intends to
negotiate sole source with Environmental and Occupational Health
Science Institute (EOHSI) to teach graduate-level training on exposure
assessment research on-site at EPA, RTP, NC. The contractor shall
develop a 1-week course on exposure assessment research that is
targeted to the training needs of an already scientifically
sophisticated staff. For example, many of the students have a PhD or MS
in chemistry and years of experience in monitoring, but lack training
and experience in human exposure theories and practices. The course
shall be taught within 9 months from the date of award. The course
shall cover all major aspects of human exposure and contain
state-of-the-art principles, designs, and practices. Key elements would
include basic principles, measurement approaches, and modeling
approaches. Course hand-outs and related materials shall be provided 1
week before the course. EOHSI is considered unique since they offer
the only university degree program in exposure assessment. Furthermore,
EOHSI's program is interdisciplinary; it has a mixture of modeling and
measurements. A contractor must offer a PhD in exposure assessment and
have a graduate academic program in exposure assessment that, in
addition, to numerous areas, covers multiple pathways of human exposure
and fundamental principles of human exposure. Interested parties who
believe they can provide the required services should submit their
qualifications in writing within 15 days. See Numbered Note(s): 22
