A response is requested from intrested parties who whould qualify and
competitevely bid this project if it were limited to Small Business
Competition as defined by FAR 52.219. The project consists of Seismic
Corrections of Building No. 4 and No. 20, VA Medical Center Sepulveda
California - Project includes; asbestos abatement in the work area of
both buildings; interior and exterior demolition work in both
buildings, of which the ''exterior'' type is considered minor; heavy
structural strengthening in Building No. 4 and light structural
strengthening in Building No. 20; new parking lot adjacent to Building
No. 20; and the steel framing of new departmental partitions, as well
as all required mechanical and electrical systems, in both buildings.
The work will include the use of reinforced concrete epoxy injection,
and shotcrete for seismic upgrades; and there will also be some light
landscaping and irrigation, utility line relocations, reroofing and
certain other items. The work includes: 79,312 gsf in Building No. 4 of
which approximately 100% is affected and 54,165 gsf in Building No. 20
of which approximately 70% is affected. This phased hospital
construction work is to be executed in approximately 21 months.
Building No. 4 will be vacated during construction and Building No.
20will be partially occupied. Building No. 20 areas to remain occupied
must remain operationalthroughout construction. Bidders will be
required to furnish performance bonds, bid bonds and
representation/certifications to comply with Small Business
requirements. Prime/General contractors are to respond. Replies shall
be submitted as a certified letter stating that they are a Small
Business. Prime/General Contractors who whould bid the project and
request that their name be placed on the mailing list to receive the
Presolicitation Notice. The replies should include the name and
address, point of contact and telephone number. They shall be addressed
to and received by the Project Manager, Oscar Castillo, 2890 Colorado
Avenue, Santa Monica, CA 90404, no later than 1:00pm (EDST) August 15,
1996. This is not a Request for Proposal or a Solicitation to Bid.
