26505-2888 B -- ENGINEERING SERVICES AND EQUIPMENT DEVELOPMENT OF A PROTOTYPE
AUTOMATIC ROLLOVER PROTECTIVE DEVICE Sol 96-57. Due 090696. Contact
Brenda Goodwin, 304/285-5882/ Contracting Officer, John T. Straface,
304/285-5876. The prototype Automatic Rollover Protective Structure
(ROPS) being developed by NIOSH is a tractor-mounted protective device
for the tractor operator that permits the tractor to be operated both
in low-overhead clearance areas and in open-terrain areas where
rollovers may occur. The work involves only the structural components
of the prototype and does not concern the rollover detection device
that will provide the deployment activation signal. Testing will be
conducted for comparison with design expectations in an order of
development that first confirms release and latch functionality for one
post of the structure and then for the two-post prototype. The awardee
must be able to perform testing to ASAE S519 static standard and
provide 3-D drawings in a preferred AutoCAD R13 format. Services needed
must be provided in a way that NIOSH project personnel in Morgantown,
WV can maintain daily on-site contact during the design and development
process. The awardee shall provide engineering laboratory space
sufficient for setting up a 10' x 15' base plate, hydraulic power
supply and controller, and necessary protective barriers; 440 volt,
3-phase electrical power; cooling water supply and outflow; and a 10
ton overhead crane. RFQ 96-57 contains the complete scope of work which
will be performed by any contractor selected for award. Only written
requests for the solicitation will be honored. All responsible sources
may submit a bid, which shall be considered by the Agency. (212) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0014 19960801\B-0001.SOL)
